Symptoms of Vertigo

Vertigo is often confused with several other conditions like lightheadedness, fainting, dizziness, and motion sickness.  True symptoms of the true vertigo exist concurrently with sensations of disorientation or motion.  Aside from that, the individual may exhibit any or maybe all of these symptoms:

  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Sweating
  • Abnormal eye movements

Other possible symptoms that are least likely to occur than the above-mentioned may include:

  • Ringing of the ears
  • Hearing loss
  • Visual disturbances
  • Weakness
  • Difficulty speaking
  • Decreased level of consciousness
  • Walking difficulties

These symptoms may last as short as a few minutes to several hours. Symptoms may appear constantly or sporadically in episodes.  Onset is often connected to a sudden change in position.
